COURSES

Acquiring your Handgun Qualification License (HQL)

This is a 4-hour class that requires you to shoot at least one round from a firearm at a range (you do not have to bring your weapon or ammunition as they will be provided for you) and focuses on gun safety and Maryland Law.

The Handgun Qualification License (HQL) is required in order to purchase, rent or receive any handgun in the State of Maryland as of October 1, 2013.

The Art of Shooting

This class is designed for 2-hours to start out your shooting experience with understanding important fundamentals of shooting.  Refresher courses are available to continue to increase your proficiency so you shoot consistently and accurately each time you fire.

There will be 1-hour of classroom instruction and 1-hour of range time practicing what has been learned on the range.  This course expects you to user your own firearm.  The classroom portion will be led by USMC Sniper SSGT Reginald Thorpe Sr. or the owner, Towanda Brown.

Combined Course: Acquiring your HQL, Maryland Wear and Carry
and Utah Concealed Carry Course

This is a required 16-hour class for the state of Maryland, split across two days which includes range time and a proficiency exam.  It covers the information needed to acquire a HQL, Maryland Wear and Carry permit and Utah Concealed Carry Weapon permit.  Although both classes are taught together, an HQL must be successfully acquired and a firearm purchased prior to applying for a Maryland Wear and Carry permit.  The Maryland Wear and Carry is required to carry a firearm outside of your home.

The class will focus on Maryland laws, gun safety and a proficiency test to ensure you know how to use a firearm. The information covered allows the distribution of a safety certificate to assist with acquiring a permit for other states such as Arizona or Virginia.  Requirements for the Utah permit will be covered as well, including discussion about suicide prevention.  As an important note, taking this course does not ensure that you will be granted your permit.  Approval is granted through the appropriate state office.

Maryland Wear and Carry Permit

This is a required 16-hour class for the state of Maryland, split across two days which includes range time and a proficiency exam.  Our preference is for you to shoot your own firearm as that is what you will be using if approved for your Wear and Carry permit in the state of Maryland.  The Maryland Wear and Carry is required to carry a firearm outside of your home.

The class will focus on Maryland laws, gun safety and a proficiency test to ensure you know how to use a firearm.  As a note, taking this course does not ensure that you will be granted your permit from the State of Maryland.  Approval is granted through the Maryland State Police.

Utah Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW)

This is a required 4-hour class for the state of Utah.  No range time is required as this is a non-shooting course (you do not bring your firearm) that will provide you with the training needed to apply to carry a concealed firearm in 36 states

(Important Note:  (MD and DC are not included; however Virginia is included).
